Mike Modano Retires after 21 NHL Seasons

After 21 NHL seasons, and 20 in the Stars organization, Mike Modano has officially hung up his skates. The first overall pick in the 1988 entry draft, Mike Modano became a household name across America. A three time Olympian and eight time All-Star had quite the career, including the 1999 Stanley Cup Championship.

Modano has the most goals (561), points (1374) and games (1499) played by an American born player. Modano also has the most career playoff points by an American born player with 145. He also holds Minnesota/Dallas franchise records for games played in the regular season, games played in the playoffs (174), goals in the regular season (557), goals in the playoffs (58), assists in the regular season (802), and assists in the playoffs (87).

He is definitely a candidate for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
