Syracuse Orange wins Pinstripe Bowl

Syracuse (8-5) amassed an SU bowl record 498 yards total offense to defeat Kansas State, 36-34, in the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. SU improved its overall bowl record to 12-9-1, while securing its eighth overall victory and sixth road win, the most since 1992. It marks the first bowl victory for the Orange since it captured the Insight.com Bowl title with a 26-3 win against K-State in 2001. The Orange is now 2-1 against K-State and 4-2 against Big 12 Conference opponents in bowl games.

It was just announced that the Syracuse Orange Football Team has agreed to play in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on December 30th.

ESPN's Gameday is Coming to the Loud House

Nearly 5,000 tickets have been distributed for the live telecast of the ESPN College GameDay show on Saturday, February 27 in the Carrier Dome. All Syracuse University basketball fans are invited to join ESPN’s Rece Davis, Digger Phelps, Jay Bilas, Hubert Davis and Bob Knight for the hour-long morning program that kicks off the coverage of college basketball at 11:00 a.m. and sets the stage for the sold-out game against Villanova scheduled to tip off at 9:00 p.m. Saturday night. The last time the Gameday crew was in Syracuse was back in 2006.

During the GameDay telecast, one luck fan will have the opportunity to make a halfcourt shot to win $17,500 from State Farm. All fans will have the opportunity to win prizes, including t-shirts, rollabannas, net hats and gift cards throughout the broadcast.

Free tickets for SU students are available from Syracuse University on a first-come, first-served basis at the Schine Student Center Box Office or the Carrier Dome Box office. Students with a ticket should enter the Dome through Gate E (with a valid SU ID) beginning at 8:00 a.m. on February 27.

A limited number of free general admission tickets for the public from Syracuse University are available at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Each individual can pick up a maximum of four tickets. Fans with general admission tickets should enter the Dome through Gates A, B, C, J, K, L and M beginning at 9:30 a.m. on February 27.Free parking will be available in the stadium west lots on Raynor, Stadium and Henry Streets.
Tickets for the SU game against Villanova will not be accepted for entry to the Dome for the ESPN GameDay show, and GameDay tickets are only valid for the GameDay show at 11:00 a.m.

SU Student Writes Song about Orange Basketball

Jake Ober, a freshman at Syracuse University, has written a song about his favorite college basketball team.
Ober, 18, is a broadcast journalism major from Las Vegas. He wrote the song about a month ago, he said. He and a friend rap on the song, which was produced by Diverse Studios in Vegas.
"I do music all the time," Ober said. "I've been producing and I've been an artist for 2-3 years now. The way the team was playing inspired me to do a song."
The Orange play at Cincinnati Sunday at 2 p.m.

Its Signing Day in Syracuse

Syracuse Orange head football coach Doug Marrone added 31 new student-athletes to his 2010 today, the first day of the National Letter of Intent signing period. The class includes representation from 11 states and covers nine positions. New York state leads the geographic representation with nine, followed by five from Florida, four from Pennsylvania, three each from New Jersey and Ohio, two from California and one each from Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Virginia and Texas. On the field, the class will feature six linebackers, five wide receivers, four offensive linemen, four defensive linemen, three defensive backs, three tight ends, three running backs, two quarterbacks and one kicker.

"I'm excited about recruiting as far as how we went out and re-established our foundation," Marrone said. "That's going to develop the relationship for years to come. I'm more excited about what our players are doing here to get themselves ready for Spring practice when it comes down to actually taking the field and playing football. I have a better sense of what our players here can do and to watch them and how they interacting with each other, how they're communicating, how they're going after it in the weight room, how they're going after the running and how they're going after academics – I feel like we've made great strides."

The addition of wide receiver Dyshawn Davis completed the class that also includees,  defensive linemen Deon Goggins, Micah Robinson and Robert Welsh, defensive backs Keon Lyn and Jeremi Wilkes, and offensive lineman Lou Alexander tight ends Charlie Copa and Beckett Wales, wide receivers Adrian Flemming, Steve Rene and Jeremiah Kobena, linebackers Malcolm Cater, Lewellyn Coker, Myles Davis, and Mario Tull, running backs Prince-Tyson Gulley and Jerome Smith and Dom Timbers, offensive linemen Sean Hickey and Macky MacPherson, quarterbacks John Kinder and Jonny Miller and kicker Ross Krautman.

Marrone welcomed seven new student-athletes to his program when the University started classes in January. Freshmen Max Beaulieu and Brice Hawkes graduated from University School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and moved north, while freshman Marquis Spruill joined the team after playing at Fork Union Military Academy in 2009. Juniors Olando Fisher and Michael Hay transferred from Nassau Community College and seniors Jose Cruz and Aaron Weaver enrolled at Syracuse after Hofstra University eliminated its football program.
